First Grade
First Graders are continuing to work in the
Starfall, More Starfall and Funbrain sites on their reading and math skills that are aligned with the "Common Core Standards". They are listening to story books at the "Talking Library", and looking at articles at the National Geographic Kids site. They are also going to the Sheppard Software site to work on math skills. In BrainPOP Jr., we are watching videos and doing online activities on "Space", learning about the sun and the phases of the moon. We have been talking about recycling in honor of "Earth Awareness Month" and "Earth Day". If they stay on task, they earn some free time at the end of class to visit sites like Mario Game Online World, Dung Beetle, and Lego.com. This trimester they will be assessed on their growing technology skills.
In second grade, we are now using Microsoft Office Word 2010 to word process sentences, and then they will type a paragraph. In science, they are watching videos on "Animals" at Brain POP JR. We are going to Enchanted Learning to research and learn more about our animals. We will be visiting the Kids' Planet site to talk more about animals. In language arts the focus starts with sentence structure at sites like Common Core and Soft Schools, where they can practice some of these skills. Math is also practiced there, as well as at sites like IXL, Kids Numbers, and Arcademic Skill Builders. During free time some choose to visit WebKinz and Poptropica. Second graders will be assessed on their published paragraph about their animal this trimester.

Third Grade
Third Graders are working on their language arts and math skills at sites like
Arcademic Skill Builders and the Internet4Classrooms. They continue to practice their math skills at sites like Kid's Numbers, Sum Dog, and Sheppard Software. For science, we are still watching videos about "Energy" and "Conservation" at Brain POP Jr. We are learning researching skills at the "Web Path Express" section of the Library Search catalog site where they will be researching famous historical figures. They will word process paragraphs about their person with the Microsoft Office Word 2010 program. During their free time, they can visit sites like Suessville, National Geographic Kids, and practice their french at the Primary Languages site. This trimester they will be assessed on their research skills and their published biographies.
